About Us
The pastor of Living Hope Church - Paul Schindler - gave everyone in the congregation a single dollar bill one Sunday morning early in 2008, and requested that everyone take that dollar and do something for someone else. Michael Martelli and his wife Jennifer posted that dollar bill on the refrigerator at home and thought of many different ways to use the money to help others, but wanted to start something that would grow and continue to make an impact - much larger than $1.
So after serving on the Leadership team of the Fall of 2008 Severna Park 40 Days for Life campaign, Michael realized "WHAT" needed to be done with the money to help others, but not necessarily the "HOW". In early winter, 2008, Michael formed Living Hope for Life as an Outreach Ministry of Living Hope Church. After several hours of prayer and discussion with Church Leaders, the "HOW" became clear. The single dollar provided by Pastor Paul was turned into 100 shiny new pennies, and a blue heart was painted on the face of each penny. These pennies would be "sold" as a way to raise money to fund Living Hope for Life – and so the Buy A Heart, Save a Life campaign was started.
Living Hope for Life was launched on November 2, 2008 at the Severna Park 40 Days for Life Victory Celebration Rally...and over $1150 was generated from that first dollar bill!
God continued to smile on Living Hope for Life, and on November 22, 2008, the very first episode of the Living Hope for Life TV show was filmed for Anne Arundel Community Television. As of April 6, 2009, Living Hope for Life TV show has gone National, and is shown in different states all across the US! You can check out our Show Broadcast Schedule for local listings. We have now become an important, national media outlet for Pro-Life leaders and organizations to reach out, connect with local communities all over the United States to raise awareness, prevent abortion, and promote healing and forgiveness for those scarred by abortion's effects.
